Honk with Vigour Day

Today Dodo discovered he was an instrument, though thank fully not in the same way that Didi discovered she was a house (which is a whole other story…!) Dodo was just sitting around and not eating (but thinking about eating!) when Flappy fell on him after jumping off a nearby tombstone to prove to Ogd he could fly.

Having proved his point juts after jumping, Flappy decided to have a fall and landed on Dodo’s back.
Dodo gave an almighty honk as all the air in him escaped (some of it had almost given of hope of ever being released!) .

“Honk! Dodo!” said Dodo in breathless excitement

“Doily!” said Ogd, still unconvinced by Flappy’s ‘flying’ and regretting standing so close to Dodo as his Honk had a funny smell and left his skin itchy!

June 14th

Under Tramp Day

Today Dodo had a bit of thought, the others were really impressed, less so with the straining sound and bad smells which had left Flappys furr all white and greasy as he was the closest! (Flappy wasn’t that bothered by the greasy bit, the white just worried him!)

“Dodo!” said Dodo and the others agreed a game of sardines was a mighty fine idea and even suggested he hide first.

Dodo agreed and went to hide and the others counted to a hundred (well, Doily, Didi, one hundred and nothing!) before wandering off to do their own thing and Dead Vole just lay on the ground, all happy in the knowledge that they would have a good couple of days before Dodo wandered back!

Dodo hid under Dead Tramp and giggled, he was so good at sardines, they could never find him!

May 31st

Warm Trickle Day

Today Dodo was relaxing with Dead Vole and Didi.Ogd and Flappy were still asleep after being up all night with the ball, and pushing each other off it.

Dodo was happy and relaxed, so much so he wet himself and was asked to leave.Sometimes you can be just too relaxed with others, and warming others feet with your last drink is rarely taken as a compliment!

May 30th

Fall Off Day

‘Costumes’ all ready, Dodo and the rest of the gang couldn’t wait any longer and started the ball early.

Dodo fell off the ball first when they it hit Flappy, who no one realised was a hill, followed by Didi who had confused everyone…a rat posing as a rat based on bits of a hedgehog on a house!

Dead Vole was very glad he was dead, as were most of Dodo’s corns/beetles!

In the end the ball was very nice and still quite tender in part, they even saved an eyeball for Dead Vole and promised to dig Flappy up soon!

May 28th

Mud Head Day

With all the others running/flapping/waddling/not moving around in preparation for the ball Flappy was a bit lost as what to go as, his first though was too come as a slug, all he would need to do would be too shave off his chest hair and then get Dodo to sneeze over him and lie on the floor and wriggle a bit.But he worried it would be too convincing and that the others would try to eat him (or Ogd throw salt at him!) so he ended up burying himself under a clump of mud and grass and go as a hill!

May 23rd

Cold Clammy Day

Small hands came down and stroked his clean and shiny fur, washing off the last of the scented water and sweet bubbles.He sighed and felt the warmth of her body as she hugged him close and kissed his nose before settling him down between her legs while she combed and plaited his fur ….

Dodo screamed again and was woken by a clod of mud thrown by Flappy and Ogd (it was a really big lump!) sick of him lying there and moaning.

“Dodo!” said Dodo as he tried to explain his nightmare before falling asleep again, happily covered in his usual filth, fresh mud and the clammy sweat from his horrible dream!

May 14th

Tried to Fhut Day

Flappy tried to teach Dodo to fly today.

Dodo had always been impressed with Flappy ‘Fhuting’ (though it doesn’t take much to impress Dodo) and so flappy though he would give him a hand.Flappy actually gave Dodo two hands, he had found them in a hole in the ground (strange that, for a graveyard!) and though they would make great wings!

They fitted Dodo like a glove, or rather two overlarge, heavy soggy-filled-with-something gloves, yet despite all of Flappy’s efforts Dodo could not fly.He could not ‘Fhut’ but only ‘Dodo!’

Ogd refused to take part on the grounds (and just over it) that Flappy couldn’t really fly and that Dodo was an idiot unsafe on the ground let alone in the air!

May 13th

Little Twitch Day,

Having almost forgotten yesterday, Dodo decided to treat himself and have a play with Zeppelins organ, it was a little out of shape after being used to bash the monkey but still worked.Losing himself in the noise Dodo didn’t notice Flappy and Ogd before it was too late.

Dodo went to bed early after Flappy and Ogd broke Zeppelins organ over his head.

Today is dedicated to St Bert the One Armed, patron of organ grinders (hence th epitaph for his overdeveloped arm used for grinding!) badly dressed monkeys, well dressed monkeys and music involving wheezing.

Fresh (well they smell strongly of something!) wallpapers featuring Dodo and Flappy have now been added to the Flickr account as well as a couple more Pop art style Dodo wallpapers (just because!) Flappy now has a face (and thankfully most of it is hidden by his hair and mutton chops!)

Post and other stuff

First off, apologies for the stuttering posts, reality intruding had left me unable to post every day but I should be back on form from now on, I will even aim to get them up a little earlier as well!

Not much to tell on the publishing front, I am waiting for a copy of this years Writers and Artists Yearbook , once i get that i can source out some more agents and then go and bug them!

In the interim have been busy brainstorming for other Dodo offshoots and other media areas Dodo can expand into and outlining a website.

In Dodoart, finally completed the design for Flappy, he is a bit of a fidget which hasn’t helped, so I will be uploading his image on a wallpaper this weekend and starting work on Ogd.

In gadget news I have just bought a Apple iBook, one of the original clamshell style, I have never had a Mac before so i though i would get one to see and have another little project to upgrade it if i stick with it (its presently running on Mac OS 9.2).So far so good and a really nice writing experience.
