Done!

Dodo flew the coop today.

The book sample went of to the first agent today, after a rush of delays from sick computers to a sicker daughter (different sort of virus and more sleepless nights!), I finally got time to get everything done and printed.

The Synopsis proved to be the hardest part, its quite a complicated book to sum up in 250 words, trying to convey all the little subplots, tangents and outright wander off for a bit and do something else (distracted by shiny thought) and then come back with a Boo!

Boy meets world

Dodo meets world?…Dodo forgot the meeting and stopped for a pre-snack snack, the world destroyed the invitation and pretended it never got it and then went and had a large scotch to get over the thought!

Dodo is not like anything you have ever read, and that is not all a bad thing! Somethings come close, the Discworld novels, Monty Python,Alice in Wonderland and Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. But they are not Dodo, and they don’t want to stand to close to dodo because of the smell!

But enough rambling for now, it is done and all I can do now is keep lying in wait for the postman until I get a reply, or he buys a dog and I have to wait inside!

I think I read somewhere that JK Rowling had over 250 rejection letters before she was picked up, not that I am saying Dodo is Harry Potter (just assume I have listed several irrelevant and trivial reasons why!), I just hope it is not a long a haul, I don’t have that many stamps in my wallet!

The Road to the Agent.P1

The Book is finally finished and my random thoughts are now being stirred into and lightly drizzled over ’The Dodo Diary of Days’ and outlining the sequel. The easy bit is over now for book one, now all I have to get it published!

I was given a copy of Writers and Artists Yearbook by my mum (she writes as well, just not so randomly!)and had a good read and sorted out a couple of agents to send my rat too.

I have decided to send it to an agent rather than a publishers because i can see Dodo becoming more than just a book and i want someone to be able to push it in everyway that it can go.

The only glitch now is sorting out the sample to send.I have decided, but you cannot help but worry you won’t have sent enough or the bit that will make them click and get he rest.Deep breath and trust in Dodo, everyone who read it said they liked it (and they cannot all be lying?!) so my deadline is Friday, printed and sent…followed by urgent prayers and one sided bargaining with the divine.

If I don’t step on any cracks, can the bears not get me and I be published?!
